Applicants for any graduate program at TSU must complete and submit their application online. Any application materials not submitted online need to be forwarded to:

While there are several common elements for a graduate program application, at the graduate level, programs may vary in application requirements. When you initiate an application via the application portal and select a program you will be prompted to provide the application materials for that program.
A general checklist follows:

• GRE Scores (or GMAT Scores for business programs) - if required by the Program
• TOEFL / IELTS Scores – for International Applicants Only
• $50/- Non-Refundable Application Fee ($75/- For International Applicants), payable To Texas Southern University

Once you have been accepted to the program you applied for, you will receive an acceptance letter via email and via the application portal.

Each admitted student is issued a Texas Southern University ID number commonly referred to as a T-Number. The T-number will be provided on the admission letter. Please safeguard your T-Number as it is a unique identifying number for you. Once you have the T-Number, please include it on all correspondence with the University.

At the Graduate level, some programs offer admission during Fall, Spring, and the Summer semester; some programs only accept new students for Fall and Spring; some programs, especially at the Doctoral level, only accept students during the Fall semester. Click here for a list of programs with application deadlines for the respective semesters that applicants can apply for.

Applicants for all Doctoral programs at TSU must submit official GRE Scores as part of their application. At the Masters level programs vary in their respective requirements.

For programs requiring the GRE (or GMAT for business programs) applicants must submit official scores as part of their application.

Evaluated Transcripts:
International applicants from most countries must submit an evaluated transcript evaluated by a TSU approved transcript evaluation service provider.

TOEFL or IELTS Scores:
International applicants also need to submit official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score if the applicant’s native language is not English, unless the applicant has received an undergraduate degree from a U.S. college or university. A TOEFL score of at least 550 on the paper based test or 213 on the computer based test or 79 on the Internet based test is required. An official IELTS score can be submitted in lieu of TOEFL in which case a minimum overall band score of 6.0 is required.
